Many pet owners in Spain took their animals to church this week to have them blessed in honor of Saint Anthony, the patron saint of animals. This tradition has been happening since the mid 1800′s. People have their pets blessed often in hopes of happier, healthier pets or sometimes just to celebrate their pets.
